Tonight at 7pm on ESPN2, two of the nations top high school basketball players will square off.
Senior Brandon Knight of Pine Crest (19-3) has scored more than 3,300 career points and is averaging 32ppg this season. During his junior season Brandon scored a ridiculous 968 points and set a school record with 127 three-pointers. Knight is the reigning Gatorade National Player of the Year but has not yet decided where he well play in college. The star guard has narrowed his choices to Florida, Miami, Kansas, Kentucky, Syracuse, and Connecticut.
Junior Austin Rivers of Winter Park (20-4), son of Boston Celtics head coach, averages 24ppg and has verbally committed to Florida, but has not ruled out other schools, most notably Duke, and he will also visit UCLA, North Carolina, and Connecticut. Although only a junior Rivers is already considered the fifth best player in the country. His game of one-on-one against Paul Pierce, where he lost 5-4, has had people thinking he's a superstar in the making.
This is the first time the summer circuit teammates will play against each other in the regular season.
